What to Expect at HealthSouth Rehab Hospital

Your stay at a HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospitals of New Jersey at Tinton Falls and Toms River is not like a stay at a standard hospital. Patients spend little time in their rooms, other than to rest and sleep. Successful physical rehabilitation requires working with therapists several hours daily. Our patients will be with their individual therapists in our specialized therapy rooms for physical, occupational, and speech therapies, depending on the rehab program.

Meals can be enjoyed with the other patients in our main dining room. Our patient rooms, rehab gyms, and public areas are clean, bright, and cheerful. All patient rooms are equipped with telephones and cable television.

What to Wear

We provide outpatient rehab and inpatient rehab for patients undergoing massive stroke recovery and can find a stroke support group for the patient and family. We suggest wearing casual, comfortable clothes that allow easy movement for therapy. Patients do not wear hospital gowns. Clothing should be labeled with the patient's name, and all valuables should be left at home. Patients should bring the following:
  • Seasonal outerwear
  • Shirts/Blouses with button fronts or pullovers that fit easily over the head
  • Comfortable slacks – sweatpants or sweat suits
  • Athletic shoes with good support
  • Undergarments
  • Pajamas or gowns, a robe, and slippers
  • Toiletry articles such as toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, brush, and deodorant
